Mental Health Day

Mental Health Day – A Focus on Student Well-Being

On HHU's Mental Health Day, student well-being takes center stage. The Student Service Center (SSC) at HHU offers a diverse program designed to bring more relaxation and mindfulness into daily life. Various activities invite you to explore new perspectives and approaches to mental health.

Talks and Short Workshops

One of the day's highlights is the lectures on key topics such as procrastination and healthy relationships. You'll gain practical tips and strategies to help you better manage challenges in your studies and daily life. Learn how to use your time more efficiently and build mindful relationships.

Exercise and Relaxation

For those seeking an active break, yoga sessions are available, including meditative yoga and breath work (registration required). These classes help clear the mind, release tension, and restore energy. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, everyone is welcome. Additionally, a slackline offers a fun way to challenge your balance and focus.

Interactive and Practical Activities

In addition to lectures and courses, interactive stations encourage hands-on participation. Try the intoxication simulation goggles to experience firsthand how alcohol affects your perception—an important step towards greater awareness. The smoothie bike is a fun and interactive way to promote healthy eating and an active lifestyle: pedal your way to a freshly blended smoothie

Mindfulness and Reflection

Mindfulness exercises offer the chance to slow down, be present, and develop greater self-awareness. These simple techniques can be easily integrated into daily life and help reduce stress.

A Day Dedicated to You

Our Mental Health Day is an opportunity to focus on yourself and your mental well-being. Whether you join a talk, a mindfulness session, or try the smoothie bike, the program offers something for everyone. Come by and experience a day full of valuable insights for a more mindful and healthier student life.

ASTA

The AStA consists of several sections. The AStA Board is responsible for managing and coordinating the work of the AStA, in particular implementing the decisions of the student bodies and monitoring their implementation. The AStA departments are specialised working groups within the AStA that focus on specific topics. These include, for example, the departments for culture, social affairs, sustainability & mobility, etc.. The secretariat is usually the first point of contact for students who have questions or concerns. This is where enquiries and complaints are received and processed, appointments are coordinated and information is passed on. The Accounting Department, in turn, is responsible for managing the AStA's finances, monitoring income and expenditure. More here.

Representative for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses (BBSt.)

Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf has set itself the task of providing students with mental or physical impairments with the best possible support in successfully completing their studies. The BBSt is the first point of contact and helps with all questions and concerns that arise during studies. The team provides information in particular about disadvantage compensation and accessibility.

Mutual understanding and sensitivity in dealing with fellow students and colleagues with disabilities is an important building block for equal opportunities. On Sustainability Day, the BBSt will therefore provide an opportunity for a change of perspective.
