Offers of the AStA

Students who need support with career orientation, career or application planning can contact the General Student Advisory Service of the AStA.

Offers of the Students Academy

Career Service: On their way from university to work, the Career Service supports students with various advisory services, e.g. on career planning, questions about application procedures and similar topics, provides feedback on application documents and organizes a job fair on campus where students can make initial contacts with employers.

Equal Opportunities Office

The central equal opportunities office advises employees on the compatibility of family and office, also supports disadvantages and offers equality-related advanced training, e.g. on equal opportunities for personnel selection or committee work. There are also support services for students, such as mentoring programmes.

Family Counseling Office

The Family Counselling Office supports students and employees with advice on how to better reconcile family and studies or work, and there is also assistance in arranging childcare services on campus and a mobile parent-child office.

Staff development

The aim of personnel development is to enable people, teams and organizations to successfully and efficiently master their tasks and to face new challenges with motivation. The much-cited "lifelong learning" is a fundamental prerequisite for successful individual and organizational development.

Students and employees with chronic illnesses or disabilities can get an overview of the various offers at HHU that can support them in their concerns.

Exam Management

The examination administration has compiled information on how to apply for a disadvantage compensation on its homepage. Please remember to submit an application in good time before the examination phase.

Offers of the BBSt

The representatives for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses (BBSt) supported students with mental or physical impairments during their studies. They advise, for example, on the topics of accessibility and disadvantage compensation and also offer workshops to those affected.

Representation of severely disabled persons for employees

The Representation of Severly Disabled Persons is the representation of the interests of all severely disabled employees, employees on an equal footing with severely disabled persons and employees who have submitted or intend to apply for recognition of a disability. This applies both to employees in technology and administration, as well as to scientific staff, including professors.

By students for students

Department for Accessibility of the AStA : The Department of Accessibility is a student-led contact point for all students who have questions, need advice or need information on accessibility at HHU. If you have a disability, a chronic and/or a mental illness, we are happy to be there for you. Consultations are carried out by telephone, in person or by e-mail by appointment via .

Social Department: The Social Department also supports students with disabilities and chronic illnesses with financial questions, e.g. the reimbursement of the fees for the semester ticket.

Student self-help group: In the past, there have already been student self-help groups with a focus on the topic of mental health. Support for the establishment of such a group is offered, for example, by the self-help service of the Düsseldorf Health Office or the Department for Accessibility.

Where people come into contact with each other, study or work, there are always conflicts. Some resolve themselves, for the processing of others you need support. Even within a person, conflicting interests and needs can lead to conflicts.

Life and conflict counseling: The life and conflicts counseling of the AStA helps students with problems during their studies, doubts about the course of study / study and dissatisfaction with the life situation. If you don't really know what to do, can't decide or are looking for someone to talk to, then you've come to the right place when it comes to conflict counseling.

iGRAD and philGRAD

Doctoral candidates who are confronted with conflicts in the course of completing their doctorate and would like advice can contact the following institutions:

Offers of the Student Service Center (SSC)

Psychological counseling: The Psychological Counseling of the SSC offers support for students of HHU with personal and psychological problems during their studies. This takes place in individual discussions as well as basic courses and seminars on stress reduction and coping with study problems.

Groups and workshops: Students can use the workshops offered by the SSC as support beyond their professional studies.  For example, assistance is given with regard to a reorientation in case of study doubts and topics such as personality and social skills are dealt with.

Psychological Institute Outpatient Clinic (PIA) of the HHU

The Psychotherapeutic Outpatient Clinic (PIA) is a psychological-psychotherapeutic institution at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. We offer qualified help with psychosocial problems and mental illnesses. Psychotherapeutic treatment is carried out according to the latest findings of psychotherapy research and is subject to constant scientific control.

Psychological counselling for employees

Are there any problem areas at work or in private life? Are there conflicts with your superiors or colleagues? You have the opportunity to arrange a personal consultation appointment with us and to find out about possible solutions and further steps. For this purpose, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf provides you with a psychological counseling center for employees.

Or do you get along well in your studies, but learning for your exams does not work? The thought of exams makes you panic and do you postpone your term paper until it is almost too late?
